Edited by Michael W. Holmes. The project's standardized, publicly inspectable Greek reference edition. It is not presented as retroactive proof that every existing chapter originated from one uniform printed edition.
This is an honest reference claim, not a retroactive claim that all completed work began from one uniform printed edition. Material manuscript forks remain independently documented at the reading they affect.

The compact reading addresses the elders as brothers; other streams coordinate the brothers or omit elders from the sender line.

The default’s compact ‘elders, brothers’ can construe the elders as fellow brothers. Copyists variously coordinated the brothers or omitted elders.

ExternalThe compact πρεσβύτεροι ἀδελφοί is printed by modern critical editions. P33, P74, א*, A, B, C, and D read only brothers after the apostles; א², E, L, P, Ψ and the Byzantine tradition explicitly coordinate elders and brothers.
InternalThe unusual apposition invites both clarification by adding ‘and’ and simplification by omitting elders, favoring the compact default.
