Why this default
κατηχέω can denote oral instruction, catechesis, or being informed. The default “had been instructed in the way of the Lord” preserves the force of κατηχημένος τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ κυρίου without silently resolving the alternatives’ distinct emphasis.
