The evidence beneath the English
Every consequential choice
leaves a record.
The published library was developed through direct Greek analysis, lexical work, and manuscript comparison. Where surviving witnesses materially disagree, the competing Greek readings and their effect on English remain open to the reader.

Textual basis
SBL Greek New Testament
Edited by Michael W. Holmes. The project's standardized, publicly inspectable Greek reference edition. It is not presented as retroactive proof that every existing chapter originated from one uniform printed edition.
This is an honest reference claim, not a retroactive claim that all completed work began from one uniform printed edition. Material manuscript forks remain independently documented at the reading they affect.

What wording names what Priscilla and Aquila explained?
The textual tradition preserves several forms: the way of God, the way of the Lord, the shorter “the way,” and word-based readings.
Why this default
Witnesses vary among ‘way of God,’ ‘way of the Lord,’ and the shorter ‘way’; these three preserve the principal readings.
Evidence
External“The way of God,” including its alternate word order, is strongly attested. Other witnesses read “the way of the Lord” or the shorter “the way”; a few secondary witnesses change “way” to “word.”
InternalLuke has “the way of the Lord” in verse 25, making harmonization in verse 26 easy; familiar proclamation language also explains secondary changes from “way” to “word.”
