What did his own people fail to do?
Paralambanō is literally to take or receive alongside oneself. Verse 12 then repeats the root verb lambanō without the prefix.
Why this default
“Receive” is default because it reads naturally for both paralambanō in verse 11 and the repeated lambanō root in verse 12. “Welcome” clarifies the relational act but loses the verbal echo; “take to themselves” exposes the compound at the cost of ordinary English.
