How should the title’s ordinary words remain audible?
The phrase literally reads ‘the son of the human/man.’ Capitalizing it as a fixed title is an English editorial decision absent from majuscule manuscripts.
Why this default
“The Son of Man” is default because the phrase functions as Jesus’ recognizable self-designation in the narrative. The lowercase alternatives remain available because Greek majuscule manuscripts do not supply English title capitalization and the underlying words still mean “son of the human/man.”
