How far did Jesus’ love reach?
Eis telos can mean to the end, completely, or to the uttermost. The phrase can carry both temporal endurance and love’s full extent.
Why this default
“Loved them to the end” is default because eis telos carries the narrative movement toward Jesus’ end while also allowing completeness of extent. “Completely” foregrounds fullness, while “to the uttermost” preserves both senses in traditional but less ordinary English.
