What is in the Father’s house?
Monē means a staying-place or abode. ‘Mansions’ came through older English tradition and now suggests grand separate buildings not stated by the Greek.
Why this default
‘Many abodes’ is default because it keeps the concrete noun monai and its sense of places where one remains without importing the modern grandeur of ‘mansions.’ ‘Rooms’ is smoother household English, but it narrows what the Greek itself specifies.
