What does Jesus leave with them?
Eirēnē is peace, wholeness, or well-being. The verb aphiēmi means leave, release, or let remain.
Why this default
‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you’ is default because it preserves both eirēnē and the verse’s marked repetition and word order. ‘Wholeness’ opens the word’s wider resonance, but peace is the established direct equivalent and avoids deciding that wider range for the reader.
