How did the world hate Jesus relative to the disciples?
Jesus places the disciples’ coming hostility inside his own prior experience, making the world’s hatred of them a continuation of its response to him.
Why this default
‘It has hated me before you’ is default because ‘before you’ expresses the temporal comparison formed by prōton with the genitive and retains the perfect-form result. ‘It hated me first’ is more idiomatic but leaves the comparison with the disciples implicit.
