What might the world do with the disciples’ word?
Tēreō can mean keep, guard, observe, or heed. Here it parallels persecution: reception of the teacher predicts reception of the students.
Why this default
‘Keep my word… keep yours’ is default because repeating tēreō preserves the exact parallel between the treatment of Jesus and of his disciples. ‘Heed’ explains receptive response, and ‘observe my teaching’ interprets logos, but both hide the repeated verb and noun.
