How does Jesus describe his origin?
Exerchomai means come or go out. Para with the genitive marks origin from beside or from God.
Why this default
‘I came out from God’ is default because it keeps the motion in exēlthon and the source relation marked by para with the genitive. ‘Came from God’ is smoother but hides the out-going verb, while ‘came forth’ preserves it in more traditional English.
