This is an honest reference claim, not a retroactive claim that all completed work began from one uniform printed edition. Material manuscript forks remain independently documented at the reading they affect.

The earlier broad reading has ouketi, ‘no longer.’ A later stream reads the shorter ou, ‘not.’
Why this default
‘No longer’ is default because it has strong early and diverse support. The simple negative is a natural shortening or smoothing.
