What does the one handing Jesus over bear?
Jesus compares Pilate’s responsibility with that of the person or group that handed him over, without removing Pilate from guilt.
Why this default
‘Has the greater sin’ is default because it preserves hamartia and the comparative meizona exactly, marking differentiated responsibility without declaring Pilate innocent. ‘Greater guilt’ translates the legal-moral result, while ‘more at fault’ is natural but less connected to John’s sin vocabulary.
