Paraskeuē is Preparation, commonly Friday; the sixth hour is approximately noon under ordinary daylight reckoning.
Why this default
‘Preparation of the Passover; it was about the sixth hour’ is default because it retains paraskeuē, the feast relation, and John’s own hour-count without converting either into a modern calendar or clock system. ‘Friday… about noon’ is useful explanation, but depends on historical-reckoning judgments beyond the wording.
