How should the time marker be rendered?
The time notice places Pilate’s presentation of Jesus within Passover Preparation as the proceedings reach the crucifixion sentence.
Why this default
‘Preparation of the Passover; it was about the sixth hour’ is default because it retains paraskeuē, the feast relation, and John’s own hour-count without converting either into a modern calendar or clock system. ‘Friday… about noon’ is useful explanation, but depends on historical-reckoning judgments beyond the wording.
