Who does Jesus call blessed?
The participles describe those not seeing and yet trusting. The saying reaches beyond one fixed moment to later readers.
Why this default
‘Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have trusted’ is default because it preserves the aorist participles as completed responses and makes their contrast readable. A future rendering explicitly targets later readers but changes Jesus’ grammatically timeless description into prediction.
