The head cloth’s separate placement distinguishes the scene from a body removed hastily with all its wrappings.
Why this default
The default identifies the soudarion as the face-cloth that had been on Jesus’ head and preserves its separation from the other linens. ‘Folded’ is a working rendering of entetyligmenon; ‘rolled up’ is also possible, so the exact final shape is not treated as settled.
