Why this default
‘Anything to eat with the bread’ is the working default because prosphagion names accompaniment-food rather than using the ordinary noun for fish, and the question expects a negative answer. ‘Fish’ is the obvious contextual referent, but inserting it hides John’s unusual lexical choice.
