What does Peter confess in verse 69?
Peter’s answer forms the narrative counterpoint to the departure of many disciples: the Twelve remain because they recognize Jesus as the one who has sayings of age-enduring life.
Why this default
‘The Holy One of God’ is default because of its strong and diverse early support; the longer Christ/Son forms read as harmonizing expansions toward the familiar Synoptic confession.
