The idiom says no one put a hand on him before his hour.
Why this default
‘no one laid a hand upon him because his hour had not yet come’ preserves the Greek form most directly. ‘no one arrested him because his hour had not arrived’ gives a natural equivalent, while ‘no one could take hold of him before the appointed hour’ adds interpretive clarity.
