This is an honest reference claim, not a retroactive claim that all completed work began from one uniform printed edition. Material manuscript forks remain independently documented at the reading they affect.

The genitive reading means peace among people of favor or goodwill; a nominative reading supports ‘goodwill among people.’ The one-letter difference materially changes the line.
Why this default
The genitive ‘of favor’ has the strongest early support and is the harder reading; the nominative behind ‘goodwill among people’ remains ancient and visible.

ExternalThe early Greek tradition divides over the final sigma: εὐδοκίας is supported by major early witnesses, while εὐδοκία became widespread in later transmission.
InternalA scribe could lose the final sigma, especially before a word boundary, producing the smoother three-part proclamation.
