Why this default
‘A ransom in place of many’ is default because lytron retains the price-of-release image and anti’s exchange or substitution force remains explicit. Traditional ‘for many’ is compact but leaves that relation ambiguous; ‘price of release’ explains the noun at the cost of its established metaphor.
