For whom is the blood poured out?
The poured-out blood is directed toward a broad group rather than one named individual.
Why this default
‘Being poured out on behalf of many’ is default because hyper marks beneficent representation and polloi retains Mark’s ‘many’ without turning it into a mathematical limit. ‘For many’ is natural but less explicit about relation; ‘for the benefit of many’ interprets the preposition fully.
