Why this default
The bilingual cry is default because Mark preserves Jesus’s reported Aramaic words and then translates them, allowing readers to hear the scene and understand its Psalm 22 content. English alone removes the audible tradition; the ultra-literal rendering sacrifices the established sense for mechanical equivalence.
