The evidence beneath the English
Every consequential choice
leaves a record.
John, Mark, Matthew, and Luke were developed through direct Greek analysis, lexical work, and manuscript comparison. Where surviving witnesses materially disagree, the competing Greek readings and their effect on English remain open to the reader.

Textual basis
SBL Greek New Testament
Edited by Michael W. Holmes. The project's standardized, publicly inspectable Greek reference edition. It is not presented as retroactive proof that every existing chapter originated from one uniform printed edition.
This is an honest reference claim, not a retroactive claim that all completed work began from one uniform printed edition. Material manuscript forks remain independently documented at the reading they affect.

Mark 15
mark.15.m15Verse28
καὶ ἐπληρώθη ἡ γραφὴ ...
Does Mark include a verse about scripture being fulfilled?
The sentence ‘And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “And he was counted with lawless ones”’ is absent from the earliest and most diverse witnesses and appears to have entered Mark from Isaiah 53:12, probably through Luke 22:37.
Why this default
Omission is the project default because the sentence is missing from early representatives of several textual streams. Its wording is readily explained as a later insertion from Isaiah 53:12, likely mediated by Luke 22:37.
Evidence
ExternalOmit: א, A, B, C, D, Ψ and important early versions; include: K, L, W, Δ, Θ, 083, family 13 and the Byzantine tradition.
InternalA fulfillment quotation is more likely to be added to clarify the scene than independently removed across diverse witnesses; the parallel wording provides a clear source for expansion.
