What are the disciples doing among themselves?
Dialogizomai can mean reason, deliberate, debate, or dispute. Their repeated reasoning reveals misunderstanding rather than neutral conversation.
Why this default
‘They were reasoning with one another’ is default because it preserves dialogizomai and its link with Mark’s recurring language of inward deliberation and misunderstanding. ‘Discussing’ is more idiomatic but neutralizes that lexical thread; ‘arguing’ adds interpersonal conflict the verb does not require.
