What does Peter begin doing to Jesus?
The same strong verb used for silencing hostile powers is applied to Peter’s response to Jesus.
Why this default
‘Began to rebuke him’ is default because it preserves both the inceptive construction and epitimao, the same forceful verb used on either side of Peter’s action. ‘Correct sharply’ explains Peter’s apparent intent, but it breaks the deliberate verbal chain in the scene.
