The chapter closes by directing the disciples to possess salt within themselves and sustain peace in their relationships.
Why this default
‘Be at peace with one another’ is default because the active imperative and reciprocal phrase call the disciples into a shared relational condition. ‘Practice peace among yourselves’ usefully stresses conduct but turns the simple verb into a more programmatic instruction.
