Why is the child named Jesus?

Why this default
‘You will call his name Jesus’ is default because Iēsous is the Greek form Matthew’s readers encounter and the evangelist immediately supplies its saving significance in the sentence that follows. ‘Yeshua’ restores a probable Semitic form not written here, while adding ‘YHWH saves’ inside the naming clause duplicates Matthew’s own explanation.
